Wycombe Orpheus raises £1000 for Chesham's Housing Interaction Trust

At a wonderfully festive and family Christmas Carol concert by Wycombe Orpheus Male Voice Choir at Wesley Methodist Church in High Wycombe, the enthusiastic audience and choir raised £1,000 for Housing Interaction Trust (HIT). The photograph shows the cheque being handed over to Helen Ladommatos and Karis Lush by Jim Cleary, Chairman of the Choir.
Since 1990 HIT has been working with young people who are homeless, or at risk of homelessness through the Chiltern District of Buckinghamshire.  The number of young people approaching HIT for help has been steadily increasing, and was over 100 last year.
HIT Manager, Helen Ladommatos, says “Without the generous support of organisations such as Wycombe Orpheus Male Voice Choir, we would not be able to offer such a full range of services”
Jim Cleary responded “It is a great pleasure to be able to support local charities such as HIT, and I thank everyone for being so giving”

19th September 2011 - Wycombe Orpheus  in  "Reach for the Stars" at London's Mansion House

The choir recently wowed a Variety Club Fundraising Charity Event held to support young athletes for the 2012 Paralympics.

As the announcement of the choir was made to an apparently empty performance area, the audience gasped in delight as the 60-strong Orpheus Choir appeared on the high balcony all round the Mansion House's stunning Egyptian Hall, opening with Elton John's "Can You Feel the Love Tonight". A stirring rendition of "When the Saints go Marching In" was received with enthusiasm with the audience clapping in time, and the all too brief performance ended with the theme of the evening being realised by the Choir reaching for the unreachable stars in The Impossible Dream!

The plaudits afterwards left the choir in no doubt of its successfull contribution in support of this worthy cause.
