High Wycombe born and bred, Louise has been an
accomplished figure in the musical life of Buckinghamshire
and the surrounding counties for many years.
A graduate
of the Royal Academy of Music, Louise’s superb musical
abilities are ensuring that the nationally renowned
“sound” of the Orpheus has been preserved and developed
since she took over the baton in 2003, after 11 years
as accompanist.
It is no mean feat to motivate more than 70 male Orpheus choristers to
blend their voices to a beautiful sound to performance standard but Louise’s
unique mix of musical knowledge, humour (and the occasional well-aimed
verbal barb!) keeps the ever-changing repertoire fresh and full of quality.
Louise achieves a fine balance of new material with the old favourites that
Orpheus concert enthusiasts expect.

As the Choir’s accompanist since 2006 it is
true to say that Michael's quiet but brilliant musicianship plays a
huge part in the musical integrity of the choir.
Michael is a noted local musician – pianist, accompanist
and teacher with an exemplary reputation. Yet, even
though music is now his mainstream activity, his route
into a musical career was unconventional. Having received
a music scholarship to Winchester College, he avoided
studying music as an academic subject and went to Durham University to
read physics and philosophy.
In 2003 he attained his ARCM diploma and later became a Fellow of the
Royal School of Music. Michael currently has a thriving teaching practice
in Beaconsfield and has directed a number of theatrical productions.
He also finds time to contribute articles for ‘Pianist’ and ‘International Piano’
magazines.
